Celebration Club on Wednesday was swamped with thousands of followers from all across the country who had gathered to bid farewell to the ‘Queen of Heart’ and Bollywood’s ‘Female Superstar’, Sridevi. The name itself does not need any explanation. The actress excelled in Bollywood from a very early age and became an icon for many generations. Five decades of a film career brought her close to the heart of many co-workers and her fans. Her innocence and gentle nature made her a true legend that inspired every Indian.

Many eyes went teary after people came to know about the sudden death of their 54-year-old year beloved superstar on 24 February, who died in a hotel room in Dubai. She had gone to Dubai along with her husband Boney Kapoor and younger daughter Khushi to attend the wedding of Boney’s nephew, Mohit Marwah. There has been quite a delay to bring her body back to her soil as for all the forensic investigation, which stated the reason of her death as ‘Accidental Drowning’. On 27 February, finally, the family and loved ones get to see their dear departed soul, which was brought to India on a private jet.
On 28 February, the doors were opened for the celebrities and fans to have the last glimpse of Sridevi at Celebration Club. Anil Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor and Mohit Marwah along with many renowned celebrities including Aishwarya Rai, Hema Malini, Ajay Devgan, Kajol, Rekha, and film director and producer Karan Johar and Sanjay Leela Bhansali attended the last ceremony of the superstar. More than 200 police officers were deployed for the security purpose.
However, the time was not enough for all to have the last glance of the legend. In her last photograph, she was so dressed to look like a beautiful bride in red and golden saree, wrapped in tri-color and was also given a state funeral with a gun salute. As per the wish of the superstar, her mortal remains were carried in a cortege that was decorated with white flowers and was accompanied by her elder daughter Jhanvi Kapoor and husband with many other family members. As far as the eyes could see, mourning fans slowly made their way through the city along with the cortege to be with the Cinematic goddess in her final exit.
The funeral procession reached the Vile Parle crematorium where her last ritual was held. Many other Bollywood stars including Shahrukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Anil Ambani, Lara Dutta, Farhan Akhtar, and Shahid Kapoor joined the procession in the crematorium.
It is not just the Bollywood, but also the entire country has lost their star. Even after a long absence from Bollywood, the actress managed to get a great comeback with her movie ‘English Vinglish’ in 2012. She was one of the highest paid actresses of Indian cinema. She also became a fashion icon by making her debut in the fashion industry in 2008. She was accorded with the fourth highest civilian award Padma Shri in 2013 for her amazing contribution to the film industry. Her legacy will always remain in the heart of her fans that have brought her this far in her career. Fans will be able to see her last appearance on big screen in the upcoming film ‘Zero’, which will release in December this year.
