“First has to be the best!” these were my thoughts before planning the first trek of my life. My cravings for fun and adventure took me to Parashar Lake, Himachal Pradesh, last winters. I cannot pen down enough the experience I had or the picturesque views I saw but yes, it was wonderful to see nature at its best.
Who else can be a better companion than
your friends, a travel squad, to experience something that gives you the
adrenaline rush. And we had no idea that this impromptu plan will give us some
amazing memories.
It was late evening, whence we met our
fellow travelers and departed from Delhi. Was quite surprised and also happy to
see how working people (Like us) take out time from their busy life to live for
what life is for (Living it unconditionally). Our journey was full of crazy
music, jokes, awesome food and of course uncomfortable sleep.

Who would stay in a room
when you are amidst splendid beauty of nature. And the first thing we did was
hitting each other with snowballs. Even cold couldn’t stop us from having the
fun we had after a very long time. It was like the child in us bloomed out of
the way to see life through a new edge. The best thing was no network connectivity.
This was truly that place everyone dreams of being in solitude.
The night went easy in a
cosy room with no electricity and crazy friends hanging around. Experienced the
real adventure following day, trekking in snow clad path for 3 hours to finally
make it to “Parashar Lake”.
Being a novice trekker, it
was little difficult but the adrenaline rush made it happen. And the view was
totally worth it. The bad weather made it a short stay and we had to return
with a bag full of memories.
P.S: Basic tips that one must follow
for a snowy trek like Parashar Lake.
- If you want to enjoy the snow, but without any hassle of road blockage, visit Parashar during the end of February till mid March.
- Do carry ample number of warm clothes with you, it becomes very cold late at night.
- Carry torch or electric lamp with you, as electricity is unpredictable there, even at the camp/hotel site.
- Take along your waterproof trek shoes, as snow can be quite deep up there with minimum 2-3 feet on your way.
Minor add on can make your trip more comfortable, like hiking poles, first aids,
sun glasses, caps, warm gloves, etc.
