Food is something that truly inspires and keeps your day running. When it comes to traveling, food becomes not only the takeaway but also the major concern for foodaholics. India is the only abode of spices with some of the great mouth-watering cuisines that will relish your country visit. India undoubtedly has amazed the visitor with its natural beauty, culture, tradition, and lifestyle, but how many of you have actually explored the country from your taste buds?

You will be surprised to know that in India, within a distance of every 100 meters, you can see a change in the culture and food habits. This brings the appetizing dishes with pleasant aroma on your table no matter where you visit. Here are some of the dishes that every visitor must add in their bucket list to experience the authentic Indian traditional cuisine.

1. Chole Bhature- A calorie-packed breakfast, having its origin from the state Punjab is served with thick spicy chickpeas and fluffy fried bhature (bread). You can find this food in every street corner of northern India. The taste is as delightful as it looks, no matter you have it on any street or restaurant.

2. Paav Bhaji- Coming to western India, the street food that you will often hear about from every Maharashtrian is Paav Bhaji. Although simple in its looks, you can have the dish with buttered bread along with the thick vegetable mix. Along with it comes the salad, served with finely chopped onion and lemon.

3. Vada Pao- Another street food from the state of Maharashtra that looks similar to a burger but with a completely different taste. Plated with spicy deep-fried potato patty between two buns, the dish Vada Pao will totally fill your mouth with its unique and luscious flavors. You can have it with green chutney (cold sauce) for better taste.

4. Idli Sambar- Common breakfast of southern India, Idli Sambar is a dish full of protein that is inexpensive and must be tried. Idly resembles steamed fluffy cakes that you can enjoy either alone or with Sambar (vegetable stew). Coconut chutney accompanies best the dish for extra-added taste.

5. Samosa- Known as a popular snack in India, Samosa can make you forget all packed food like potato fries or nuggets. Its experience is best when taken with hot tea, especially in winter. It resembles triangle-fried snack that is made with potato filling along with onions and peas. You can have it with either tomato sauce or green chutney.

6. Gol Gappe- Having its origin from Uttar Pradesh, the snack is now available almost everywhere in the country. Also called as Puchka or Panipuri, the snack is the mixture of sweet and spicy flavor, cherished by visitors from all around the world. The snack resembles small hollow crisp bread, stuffed with the mixture of boiled potato, onion, and chickpeas; and added with sour or sweet water. To avoid spilling you must consume it at one go. The latest modification of filling puchka with rum or whisky has certainly taken its taste to another level.

7. Makke ki Roti with Sarson ka Saag- It is a popular winter dish of Punjab, taken either for breakfast or lunch. This dish consists of vegetable that is prepared with mustard leaves and served with maize bread (Makke ki Roti). The dish accompanies lots of butter or ghee to add aroma and flavor. You can have the dish with a chilled glass of lassi (sweet drink) or buttermilk.

8.Hyderabadi Biryani- Biryani is mainly a dish prepared with the rice and spices. Although the dish is prepared in many parts of the country but the flavor of Hyderabadi biryani is truly mesmerizing. It was during the reign of Mughal emperor Aurganzeb when the fusion of Mughal cuisine took place with the taste of Nizam’s kitchen, giving birth to a culinary gem, Hyderabadi biryani. Some of its common version includes vegetables, chicken, mutton, and lamb.

9. Masala Dosa- A very popular south Indian crumbly dish has taken over the entire country. It looks like a pancake, dosa is prepared from rice batter and is as thin as paper. It is stuffed with mashed potato and onion and can be taken with coconut sauce and lentil stew.

10. Macher Jhol- This dish is the best option for all fish lovers. Popular among the Bengali people, the unique blend of flavors gives a different taste to the sweet river fish. It is best served with steamed rice. If you seek for the best and authentic taste, then you must visit West Bengal. Do not forget to try the famous Rasogolla (sweet dish).
